Mary Laverne Bailey, 80, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018, in Liberty, MO.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 6-7:30p at Hidden Valley Funeral Home Of Excelsior Springs. The funeral will be held 11a on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Pisgah Baptist Church, 112 Pisgah Dr, Excelsior Springs, MO. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO, following the funeral service.

Laverne was born September 13, 1938, in Brownington, MO. She is the daughter of the late Leonard Eli and the late Helen Lucille (Drake) Crowder. She married Bennie Joe Bailey on November 10, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri, to whom she was married for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Bailey on December 10, 2008.

Laverne was involved with Pisgah Baptist Church since 1964. She enjoyed baking and doing embroidery. Laverne was passionate about her family: she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was delighted when great-grandchildren came along.

She is survived by one daughter: Cheryl (Randy) Mynatt, and one son: Joe Bailey; five grandchildren: Jessica (Jason) Bozarth, Mary (Jonathan) Collins, Heather (Kyle) Falcon, Philip (Shawna) Banning, and Martha (Chase) Yates; three sisters: Opal Gordon, Jewel (Don) Bartley and Connie (Wayne) Hehner; three brothers: Buck Crowder, Clifford (Helen) Crowder and Herbie (Shirley) Crowder; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Laverne was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene Crowder, Frank Crowder, and Ben Crowder, and sisters, Mae Ryan, and Barbara Chrisenberry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rose Lowenstein Foundation.
