Philip Eldred Brittain was born to Robert and Joanna Emma Brittain of Winterset, Iowa. His brothers and sisters included: William (Bill) Brittain, Ward Brittain, Don Brittain, Louise Brittain (Leming), and Charlotte Brittain (Ladd). He married Cleta Berry Peterson of Winterset, Iowa and to them were born Clark Brittain, Babetta (Ruchotzke) and Margo (Davis). Following Cleta's death on February 22, 1962, he married (Faye Schirm) and moved the family to Longmont, CO where he remained until his death. Another daughter, Shelley Brittain, was born to him and his second wife, Faye. Philip farmed near Winterset, Iowa until he moved to Longmont. The remainder of his life he worked for Beech Aircraft. He is buried in the main cemetery in Longmont, CO.
