Charles Edward Elder, 65, of Rimersburg RD 2, died Friday evening (Nov. 22, 1957) at Butler Memorial Hospital following a prolonged illness.
Elder was born Nov. 13, 1892 in Clarion County, a son of John and Mary (Sommerville) Elder. He was a life-long' resident of the community where he was born.
Elder was a farmer by occupation the major-portion of his life. For the past 20 years he had been tax collector in Toby Twp, Clarion County. Elder was a member of the Associate Presbyterian Church, Rimersburg, where he had been a ruling elder for a number of years.
Surviving are a brother, Oliver T. Elder of East Brady RD 1; five sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Blair of Youngstown, Ohio, Mrs. Cora Gilbert, of Knox, Mrs. May Lerch of Grove City, Mrs. Edith Stroup of Clarion and Mrs. Ruth Smith of Girard, Ohio, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Clarence and Raymond, preceded Mr. Elder in death.
Friends are being received at Miller funeral home, Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. The Rev. Harold Orr, pastor of the Associate Presbyterian Church of Rimersburg, will officiate. He will be assisted by Rev. R. K. Atchison, retired pastor of the Associate Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Rimersburg cemetery.
