Elizabeth Fleming was born the daughter of Levin Fleming and Mary (Willey) Fleming. She married John Lawlis on November 30, 1834 in Cassville. West Virginia and they had ten children: Cyrus William, Molisa (Burbridge), Clarissa (Deets), Orlando Bruce, Mary Ann (Core), Leven Columbus, Lydia Cornelia (Simpson), Jerome B., James Lisbon, and Victoria.∼Elizabeth married John Lawless / Lawlis a few years after he commenced weaving at her father's house in 1831. She must have been a skilled spinner of wool for the coverlets and other textiles her husband wove, and may have been a weaver herself.

Elizabeth and John raised these children in Cass District near Scott's Run: Cyrus W., Melissa (married John P. Burbridge), Clarissa (married William Deets), Orlando Bruce, Mary Ann (married Christopher Core 1842-1898), Levin C., Lydia Cornelia (married John Simpson), Jerome, James Lisbon and Addina Victoria, unmarried.

Elizabeth was buried with husband John in Lawless Cemetery #1 on John's father's home farm. Who moved their gravestone between 2003 and 2009 is unknown.
