Mrs. Alice Barnes, nee Farrar, of Ten Mile, Mo. died at her home 24 December 1923. She was born 17 January 1853 and was married to William Butler Barnes 17 October 1871. To this union were born eleven children, four of whom preceded her in death. Seven remain, three sons and four daughters namely -- Samuel F. Barnes, Hilife Barnes and C. C. Barnes of Billings, Mont.; Mrs. W. W. Cox, Mrs. O. C. Barton of Brookfield; Mrs. Alva Squires and Mrs. J. H. Hughes. She also leaves two brothers, William Farrar of St. Louis and Charles Farrar of Macon and two sisters, Mrs. Gus Strong and Mrs. Sarah Gilbert of Macon. She was a member of Ten Mile Baptist church where she was buried in the church yard.
