Millard Homer Hanlin, son of Jobe and Mahala Jane Kitzmiller Hanlin, was born December 26, 1884 in West Virginia. On March 16, 1910, he married Bettie Mitts in Macon, Missouri. He farmed and later operated a shoe repair shop in Clarence, Missouri for many years, residing in Shelby County for 69 years. Homer and Bettie celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 15, 1970. At the time of Homer's death, survivors included seven children, thirty-one grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and a sister, Grace Hall of Shelbina. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
