Bettie Mae Mitts, daughter of James and Flora Schwada Mitts, was born August 21, 1889 in Shelby County, Missouri. She married Homer Hanlin on March 16, 1910 in Macon, Missouri. They were the parents of seven children. On March 16, 1975, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Bettie died on January 15, 1979 in St. Louis, Missouri at the Del Haven Nursing Home following several weeks of illness. Survivors included seven children, thirty-one grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and one brother. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers, and two sisters. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Clarence.
