Francis R. McGoey

DUBOIS--Francis R. McGoey, 85, formerly of 119 Walnut St., Clearfield, died Wednesday, Sept 17, at 9:45 p.m. at the Maple Avenue Hospital in DuBois. He had been a guest at Christ the King Manor in Dubois.

Born Dec 31, 1894, in Lawrence Township, he was the son of Joseph and Clara (Green) McGoey.

He was married to the former August F. Mitchell, who preceded him in death in 1973. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Barbara Hughes, five sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by a brother, John McGoey of Ashtabula, Ohio, several nieces and nephews and seven grandchildren.

He retired from the Clearfield Bank & Trust Co. and was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield, an Army veteran of World War I, past commander of the John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 of the American Legion and past finance officer for over 20 years and former Rotarian. He was elected to the Red Cross Board of Directors in May 1936 and served continually on the board until 1976, a term of 40 years. He served as treasurer until 1973.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert G. Barcio as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, where military services will be held at graveside.
