Lora Ethel Whitten Barker, 94, of Urania, died Thursday, February 24, 2000, at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. She was a retired cafeteria manager at the Urania Elementary School, having served for 29 years in that position. She was the oldest and longest attending member of the Urania First United Methodist Church. She was born in Hinton Camp on January 29, 1906, to the union of Luther and Molly Steen Whitten.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 26, at the First United Methodist Church in Urania with Rev. Emily Winberry officiating. Interment followed at the Adams Cemetery near Kelly under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla.

Survivors include three daughters, Greta Kennedy of Lafayette, Marlene Hatten of Grayson and Linda Whatley of Columbia; one brother, Luther Whitten of Castro Valley, Ca.; two sisters, Marie Allbritton of Lafayette and Mae Newsom of Carencro; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Danny Corley, Wayne Corley, Gary Wilson, Skipper Carter, David Gough and Steve Tannehill.
