He was the son of Randall and Lucetta Davis. He served in the Civil War nearly three years. He belonged to the band and hospital corps, and was in fourteen engagements. Not only was he a soldier of war bur a 'soldier of the Cross.' When a young man he became a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church at Carlston, Minn. In 1896 he helped to build and was a charter member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church at Boulder, Colo. In later years he served as musical director of the Church at North Loup, Neb.
