November 15, 1937 - Carroll Daily Herald - L.G. Chipman, 82, a resident of Carroll county for more than half a century, died suddenly at his home in Glidden at 12:45 o'clock Sunday morning. He had been in poor health for a long time, having been afflicted with heart trouble and asthma for years. The body was taken to his home from the Huffman funeral home Sunday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held at the family home in Glidden at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Brown of the Free Methodist church at Coon Rapids officiating. Burial will be in Dickson cemetery.
Mr. Chipman, a native Iowan, was born at Palo, Linn Co, Iowa on Jan 18, 1855. His parents were of Canadian birth.
In the year 1879, Mr Chipman was married at Palo to Miss Harriett Bliss. In February 1882 they came to Carroll county from Palo. Mr Chipman was a farmer and carpenter, having spent 49 years of his long life on the farm. Mrs Chipman passed away in 1934.
Mr. Chipman was the last of a family of seven children. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Maude Leonard, Mrs. Nellie Moore and Mrs. Harvey Moore, all of Glidden.
Five children preceded their parents in death. Lydia died at the age of four years, Johnnie, three months, and Ella May, three months. Two other children died in infancy.
