DOTHAN--James Lawton Dell, age 90, of 3132 Harrison Rd., Dothan, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at a Dothan hospital.
Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary chapel with Rev. Henry Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the Sylvan Grove Methodist Cemetery, near Midland City.
Mr. Dell was born and reared in the Sylvan Grove community of Dale County, the son of the late William Bartow Dell and Blanche Irene Thompson Dell. He had lived in Houston County on Harrison Road since 1947. Mr. Dell was a member of the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church and was a retired farmer. In earlier years, he was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Dell was preceded in death by a sister, Hulitte Beasley, and two brothers, Alton Dell and Broward Dell.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Smith Dell, Dothan, Rosemary Dunagan of Dothan, and Kathryn Dell of Birmingham; three sons, Jimmy Dell of Dothan, Jerry Dell of Chancellor, and Glenn Dell of Midland City; four sisters, Alice Gionolio of Delray Beach, FL., Patricia Krall of Miami, FL., Gladys Harmon of Columbus, GA., Ann Voss of Sacramento, CA., four brothers, Yuthe Dell of Bell Glade, FL., Kermit Dell of Delray Beach, FL., Ladd Dell of Panama City, FL., J.B. (Bose) Dell of Midland City; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
