Michael and Dorothea had a son Thomas, age 10 in the 1850 census, and never found after that. Today I found a Civil War record that fits. The memorial is #108613847. I don't want to suggest connecting him since I can't prove it, but I wondered if a note could be placed on the memorial indicating the possibility.
Michael and Dorothea were my 3rd-great-grandparents and their son Heinrich/Henry was my 2nd-great-grandfather. A few of his siblings are unknown because of the lost birth records from Zions Lutheran Church. I only know of Sophia, Charles, Thomas, and Sarah from the 1850 census and Sophia's family gave me the information on her. I was also able to piece together the older siblings, John and Solomon, but the two sisters born between 1826 and 1830 have been impossible and many "researchers" have tried to connect people they assumed were daughters but were errors passed on by terrible research and much copying. Sarah and Charles are also still mysteries waiting to be solved.
