Married Ester Lites in Henry Co., GA on 11 August 1829. They were the parents of nine children: Margaret Isabella, Nancy Ann, John J.W., Emeline Elizabeth, Matilda Ellen, Adeline C., Louisa A., William Preston and Henry M. Bernhard.
Some researchers have included an additional child: a Simeon J. Bernhard and have as his spouse, Sarah Jane Clower. This is en ERROR.
Sarah Jane Clower married Edwin M. Bernhard, son of Jacob's brother, John N. Bernhard. Edwin left Mississippi prior to his marriage to Sarah Jane Clower in Henry Co., GA on 22 December 1859. Edwin clearly states that he was born in South Carolina on the 1860 Henry Co., GA census. All of Jacob and Esther's children were born in Georgia.
To date, there has been found no documentation or proof that a Simeon J. Bernhard ever existed, or was a child of Jacob and Ester Bernhard.
