Seven Children Survive
Mrs. Mary Langer, a beloved and highly respected citizen, of the Norden community passed away on Thanksgiving Day at the Valentine hospital after being sick with heart trouble for about two months. Mrs. Langer was a pioneer who lived in Keya Paha county for 47 years.
Mary Koralewski was born near Margolene, Posen Province, Poland, on Octobert 13, 1872, and departed this life at Valentine, Nebraska, on November 21, 1940, at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 8 days. She came with her parents to America at the age of 18, to make their home at Nenzel. She was united in marriage to Joseph Langer October 30, 1893, and settled on a homestead two miles north of Norden. Later they moved to a place south west of Norden and has lived in this community until her death. To this union were born seven children, all of whom are living, Rose, Joseph, Charles, Martha, Marie, Theodore, and Agnes. Her husband preceded her in death on October 12, 1907.
Left with these seven children between the ages of one to thirteen, Mrs. Langer faced courageously and willingly the bringing up of these children. She was successful in her undertaking as can be seen by her fine family of respected citizens who are known by everyone for their honesty, truthfulness and seincerely. Mrs. Langer, who was a life long Christian with a strong faith accepted all the trials and hardships which came unto her life without complaining. An unostentatious person she was a great woman who gave her life for duty and gave it so simply that few of the world knew anything about it.
In return for her unselfish life of sacrifice the last years of her life were made happy for her by the loving care of Charles, Ted and Agnes, who remained at home and her married son and daughters who helped all they could to make life pleasant for her.
Those left to mourn her death are four daughters, Mrs. Rose Simons, Sparks; Mrs. Martha Sharp, Sparks; Mrs. Marie Kuhre and Agnes Langer, Norden; and three sons, Joe of Burwell and Charles and Theodore at Norden; four sister, Mrs. Hattie Dudek, Wauneta; Mrs. Frances Stasch, Nenzel; Mrs. Josie Stasch, Chadron; Mrs. Rose Macek, Ainsworth; two brothers, Andrew Koraleqski and Mike Koralewski both of Nenzel; eleven grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at St. Agnes Catholic Church at Norden, Saturday at 9:30 a. m. by REV. Father Blaere of Valentine. The pall-bearers were John Rossenbach, Chas. Simons, Harold Sherman, Jim Clark, John Petsel and Jay Phillips. Burial was in the West Cemetery.
