AGED 81 YEARS,6 MONTHS, 23 DAYS Son of MASTIN B. and LUCINDA (HILL) MARTIN. / Husband of 1st Wife AMANADA M. "MATTIE" (HILL) MARTIN, they married 28 May 1867, in IRON CO., MO; 2nd Wife CATHARINE "KATE" ALLGIER MARTIN, they married 15 May 1901 in IRON CO., MO / Azariah took part in the Civil War and fought for both sides. He was taken prisoner in 1863 and sent to Cotton Plant, Ark. Returning home in 1864, he joined the Missouri Militia and then the 47th Missouri Infantry. He was at the Battle of Pilot Knob. He wrote a description of this battle which was published in the Iron Co Register and widely quoted. Soon after the war he was able to buy the family farm and worked at the mines as a charcoal burner
