LEICESTER-Dr.Raymond Mulcahy,86,died Tuesday,Nov 4,2008.He was born Dec.9,1922,in Rutland,son of Michael B.and Bridget(Moloney)Mulcahy.He attended Christ the King and Mount St Joseph Schools in Rutland.He graduated from Loyola College in Montreal,St Paul's Seminary in Ottawa,and St John's Seminary in Brighton,Mass.He was a social worker at the Brandon Training School in 1950.In 1955,he was appointed assistant superintendent and then superintendent of the Brandon Training School in 1960.He was awarded an Honoray Doctorate of Law Degree from St Michael's College in 1966 and a Doctorate of Humanities Degree from the College of St Joseph in 1975.In 1978,a multi-pupose building "The Raymond M.Mulcahy Life Center" was dedicated by the Vermont State Legislature, the office of the Governor,and the Secretary of Human Servicec in Raymond's honor.In 1985 he retired and moved with his wife ,Lillian,to Nichols,S.C.He returened to Vermont in 2006.He is survived by his five children,Daniel of Glendora,Calif.;Peggy of Longmeadow,Mass.;Eileen of Montpelier,Barry of Leicester;Kay of Meredith,N.H.Also surviving are his brother John and sister Pat Grimshaw,both of Rutland,and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife,Lillian and two sons Kevin Paul and Brendan Sean.Also predeceasing him are his three sisters,Mary Scott,Thereasa Lantier,and Rita Crowley.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday,Nov 8,at 1 p.m..at St Mary's Catholic Church in Brandon. Grave side services will follow in the family lot,at Pine Hill Cemetery.The Rev.Albert"Skip"Baltz,Pastor will be the celebrant. Arrangements are by the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
