He married Ella Lee Butler, daughter of James Butler and Dora Kivett, on 14 Mar 1943 at St John the Baptist RCC, Fairview, Bergen Co, NJ. Lee died on 28 Mar 1973.
Sam married Marian Carter Pike, the daughter of James G. Pike and Myrtle Carter, on 18 Nov 1974, in Liberty, Randolph Co, NC.
He was employed by the Orange and Black Bus Company in Fort Lee, Bergen Co, NJ and was a tour director for over 40 years. He retired in 1972 and in 1973 he became a permanent resident of Liberty, Randolph Co, NC.
