"Two killed; nine hurt by traffic-...Mrs. Emma [Crickmer], 60, 62 W. Crosier, died late Saturday night of injuries sustained when she was struck by an auto driven by John Friedman, 661 N. Main st., five hours earlier.
Witnesses told the police that Friedman's machine was going at a 35 mile an hour rate when it started to skid. Mrs. [Crickmer] was crossing the street on her way to the grocery store when after slipping more that 50 feet the auto ran into her. Friedman was arrested, first charged with operating an auto unreasonably, and later with manslaughter, when the victim died......" " Mrs. Samuel [Crickmer]- Funeral services for Mrs. Samuel [Crickmer], 53 W. Crosier St., who died as the result of an auto accident Saturday night, will be held in the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial in Mt. Peace cemetery." She was the fifth cousin of the 19th President of the USA Rutherford B Hayes on the maternal side of the family
