Handwritten transcription in journal of granddaughter Ruby Elizabeth Crickmer Coup: " Mrs. Ruby wife of Eli Allen, died on Monday last in the seventy fifth year of her age. Mrs. Allen was taken with measles and her advanced age and feeble condition of health caused it to end fatally in a few days. She was the daughter of Amos Beard, one of the pioneer settlers of this county and spent the most of her long life in the house where she died. Her husband has been so ill for some weeks as to require night watches, and only one of her three daughters present were able to follow her to her grave on account of the measles, while a fourth was lying sick in Ohio. Charles Southard and Misses Nellie and Alice Canham of Kellogsville, Ohio and Sam Crickmer of Akron, arrived some hours too late for the funeral of Mrs. Allen."
