SPENCER — Helen I. Beaman-Long, 82, of Spencer, passed away at Garden Villa in Bloomington, Tuesday, November 11, 2008.

She was born in July 17, 1926, in Atwood, IL, to Virgil and Jesse (Lanier) White. Helen was a 1944 graduate of Spencer High School.

She was a retired bookkeeper for the Owen County Welfare Department after many years. Helen was a member of the Spencer Christian Church and Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Iota Chi Chapter in Spencer.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Long; daughters Rebecca Crohn and Beverly (Allen) Hawes, all of Bloomington; a son, Bill (Brenda) Beaman of Ellettsville; three stepchildren, Jane (Jim) Heckman and Nancy (Charlie) Hardesty, all of Spencer, and Wayne (Jenny) Long of Ellettsville; three sisters, Maurene Gentry and Jean Harris of Spencer and Marilyn Spangler of Ellettsville; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Billy T. Beaman in 1984; and two brothers, Robert White and Joe White.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2008, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor Allan Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Hudson Hill Cemetery.
