Richard "Dick" Hollis, 85, Frankfort, died at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne.

Richard was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Avery, to Leo and Ressie LaVon (Richardson) Hollis. He married Doris Colgrove in 1946 at the First Christian Church and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Hollis was a Frankfort High School graduate and a lifelong Frankfort resident. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as sergeant during World War II. Mr. Hollis worked as a mechanic/machinist for the railroad for 18 years and Eli Lilly for 24 years, retiring in 1986. His memberships included First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge and the Moose Lodge. He was former president of City Planning Commission, Co-Citizen of the Year, was active with the Salvation Army and was a blue coat volunteer with the Clinton County Hospital.

Surviving are three daughters, Susan Joanne (Tom) Sexton of Vonore, Tenn., Karen Leanne (Greg) Wilson of Henderson, Nev. and Judith Anne McIntosh of Fort Wayne; one brother, Fred Orville Hollis of Indianapolis; three sisters, Betty Eileen Hollis, Marjorie Ann Lindeen and Bonnie Rose Loveless, all of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, Tami, Tyler, Audra, Brooke, Adam, Jason and Jeff; and one great-granddaughter, Madison.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four sisters and four brothers.
