MADISON — Catharine C. McCloskey, age 72, of 326 Westmorland Boulevard, died on Thursday, November 15,1984, at a Madison hospital. She was born on April 24,1912, in Yale, South Dakota. She has been a resident of Madison most of her life. She was formerly head of the Social Studies Department at McFarland High School, she also taught at the Ridge School In Deerfield, Wisconsin, and also the Waubesa School In McFarland. She was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral, an honorary member of the McFarland Cheerleaders, a charter member of the
Philharmonic Chorus at Madison; she was a long time member of the Dane County Democratic Party, also a member of the Sun Prairie Country Club, and a former member of the State's Planning Committee for Social Studies Curriculum. Survivors Include a daughter, Kathleen Loeb of Webster Groves, Missouri; two grandchildren, Lisa and Jeffrey Loeb; a brother, John Coffey of Sun Prairie; two sisters, Maxima Burke of Sun Prairie and Claire Hauge of Sun Prairie; three sisters-in law, Catherine Coffey of Madison, Carol Coffey of Sun Prairie and Bonnie Linden of Madison; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Terrence In 1937. Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cottage Grove, on Sunday, November 18, 1984, at 11:30 am, with Father David H. Runde officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 9:00 pm on Saturday, November 17, 1984, at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, where a scripture service will be held at 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to the Catharine McCloskey Scholarship Fund at McFarland High School.
