A stroke which she suffered about noon on Saturday resulted in the death of Mrs. Merna Mae Carney, 52, wife of Addison R. Carney, at the family home, 940 Eight Ave., Brackenridge, Saturday evening, November 23, 1940 at 5:00 o'clock.

Born at Brookville, Pa., February 12, 1888, Mrs. Carney had resided in the Brackenridge area for the last 29 years, going there from Fairmount City at the time of her marriage. She was a faithful member of the Central Presbyterian church of Brackenridge, and was deeply devoted to her family.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Carney leaves five children; Mrs. Mae Beers and Mrs. Alice Minnick of Brackenridge; Mrs. Merna Boeltz of New Kensington, and Hattie Belle and William Addison, at home; her mother, Mrs. Amanda Himes, of Fairmount City; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Nolf of Hawthorn, and Mrs. Anna Craker of Corry; five brothers, James, Ralph, and Homer Himes of Fairmount City; Orvis Himes of Slippery Rock and Manassah Himes of Detroit, Mich.

Friends were received at the family homes where services were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by her paster, Dr. Frank Ramsey, after which the funeral cortage left for the Paradise church in Red Bank Township, where another service was held at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment in the Paradise Church Cemetery.
