Rites Wednesday for Longtime Resident
Mrs. Barbara Schaefer,87, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday at the home of her son, Claude Schaefer, in Charlestown. She had been ill for the last two years.
Mrs. Schaefer's husband died July 14, 1928. Since that time she has made her home with her son in the town of Chilton.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church here Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Joseph Schaefer, St. Wendel, nephew of the deceased officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cyril, Donald, and Joseph Schaefer, Henry Rollman, jr., Melvin and Sylvester Rollman.
Mrs. Schaefer was born Oct. 19, 1855 in Grafton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Math Schmidt. She attended school and was married there to William Schaefer May 30, 1882. Following their marriage, they resided in Fond du Lac four years, Kaukauna 2 years, and in 1898 they moved to the town of Chilton. In 1926 they moved to the city to make their home.
Surviving are four sons, Joseph, Marshfield, Claude and Leonard, Chilton; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Rollman; one brother Claude, Chilton; 17 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Among those who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Joseph Schaefer and son Joseph jr., Marshfield; Mrs. Nic Jungers, Mrs. Wm. Lorenz and Mrs. Joe Lorenz, Grafton; Mrs. Jack West, Mrs. Kate Lehfeldt, Mrs. Elmer Seiler, Milwaukee; Mrs. John Dekker, Mrs. Albert Hanke; Mrs. Henry Danes, Mr. and Mrs. Math Haufmann and Mrs. Fred Greve, New Holstein, and Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Ellenbecker and children, Sheboygan.
