The family came to Henry County by way of Brownsville, Tennessee from North Carolina. Ezekiel Blackshear who married Isabella Dobson died in Brownsville, Tennessee at age 44. It is believed that Isabella and her children came to Henry County with some of her relatives.

Isabella went to Missouri with some of her family from Henry County, Tennessee. She owned land in Henry County and lived there several years along with some of her children. It is known that she traveled to Missouri with her son Newton Jasper Blackshear. He spelled his name Blacksher after moving to Missouri.

This is the entry for Isabella's land in Henry County, Tennessee. Book B, entry #2658 dated December 10, 1838.

Isabella Blackshear assignee of Eli Bank?, 200 acres, Range 3, Section 6, begins at northwest corner of James Allen for 200 acres, west 61 poles to Atkins tract, east 209.25 poles, thence south 153 poles to Allen's north line, thence west with same 148.25 poles to beginning.

This land is located in the area of Union Church, about 3 miles north of McKenzie, Tennessee.

She was apparently in Henry County in the year following Ezekiel's death according to the date on the above land record.

It is not known what the circumstances of Isabella and her family was in moving to Ozark County, Missouri. Her daughter Sarah Catherine and her husband Alvin Arnold Thomason came either with her or about the same time to Ozark County. Also her daughter Amanda Elizabeth who married James A. Lawrence came at the same time to Ozark County.

These families, or some members of these families may have first came to Buffalo, Missouri according to information provided by Earlene Blacksher of Gainesville, Missouri.

Alvin Arnold and his wife Sarah Catherine are buried in the Fay Cemetery along with Isabella.

She is buried at Fay Cemetery on highway "J" not far from Gainesville. She is reported to be the first person buried in this cemetery.

According to the above dates Isabella spent more than twenty years in Henry County, Tennessee.
