She was married to Alfred C Grieb (April 21, 1860 - Nov 16, 1938)
She was a homemaker/housewife. He was a retired farmer. They lived at 734 W Central Ave, Carthage, MO. She was widowed on Nov 16, 1938.
She passed away on June 26, 1939 at 2 a. m. She was 71 years, 9 months of age.
Burial was at Park Cemetery on June 27th under the direction of Knell Mortuary.

CARTHAGE WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN HER BED

Funeral Services for Long-Time Resident of County Will Be Tomorrow Afternoon


Mrs. Elma Grieb, 71, widow of A. C. Grieb, well-known retired farmer, was found dead in bed at her home, 734 West Central Avenue, about 4:30 o'clock this morning by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Austin Grieb.
Mrs. Grieb had been in failing health several years and since February her condition had been more serious. She had been bedfast most of the time since May. Yesterday she seemed improved and was up some. The son and the daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Grieb, have been making their home with Mrs. Grieb since May 1. Mrs. Grieb suffered from a heart ailment and complications of other ailments. She was born September 26, 1867, in Freeport, Illinois and her parents, Mr. and Mrs A. J. Bobb moved to a farm near Carl Junction when Mrs. Grieb was a small child. She was married there January 18, 1887, to A. C. Grieb. Mr. and Mrs. Grieb lived for many years on a farm southest of Carthage. In March 1918, they moved to the home on West Central. Mr. Grieb dropped dead last November 15 while raking leaves in his yard.
Surviving Mrs. Grieb are the son, D. Austin Grieb;
two grandchildren;
Elva Louise and Barbara Ann Grieb
a sister;
Mrs. Esther Chitwood, who formerly made her home with Mrs. Grieb but is now visiting in Pittsburg, California
Mrs. Grieb was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She was a member of the Women's Relief Corps, which disbanded a number of years ago.
Funeral services were held at the Knell service home
