Philip Ruhl, an aged and highly respected resident of Lebanon, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William A. Miller, 717 Guilford Street, this morning at 5 o'clock. He was aged 83 years. He suffered for some time from a complication of diseases, and was confined to bed two weeks. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, this city, and the Junior Order United American Mechanics, of Jonestown. Besides the daughter already named, he leaves the following children: Mrs. Allen Speck, Lebanon; Mrs. Robert Haggerty, Reading; Mrs. Harry Dodge, Lebanon; John Ruhl, Myerstown; Oliver Ruhl, Reading, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Brown, Hebron. Mr. Ruhl was a former resident of Lickdale, but he resided in this city during the past fifteen years. [Lebanon Semi-Weekly News, October 14, 1929, Page 5]

Rev. Elwood Schwenck, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran church, Lehman Street, near Seventh, officiated at services this afternoon for the late Philip Ruhl, a the residence, 717 Guilford Street. Floral tokens from relatives and friends surrounded the caskets in which the body rested peacefully as it was viewed by many people. Grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers.
