Edward/Edmond BRENNAN was born 21 Nov 1828 in Fiddown, County Kilkenny, Ireland. He came to the US in about 1851 and resided in Concord, Morgan County, Illinois until moving to Carrollton in 1880. He married Matilda Mary ZERBY, dau. of John and Rachel KVISHER ZERBY in Concord or Jacksonville, Illinois on 15 Jul 1855. They had one daughter, Mary A. BRENNAN born June 1856 & died 21 Sept 1857 in Concord, Illinois. Matilda died one month earlier on 26 Aug 1857 in Concord, after a severe illness. Edward then married Matilda's sister, Eliza Jane ZERBY, on 27 Aug 1858 in Concord, Illinois.
Edward and Eliza Jane were the parents of Laura (R.C. LANE), Lawrence John (Lenna), Wallace Edwin (Anna), Louis, and Grace. Louis never married, and Grace died in childhood.
Edward/Edmond went to live with his son Wallace BRENNAN in Kansas City in about 1900, and he died there on 6 July 1904. He was brought back to Wakenda Baptist Church Cemetery to be buried next to his wife, Eliza Jane BRENNAN, who died in 1881. They are buried in unmarked graves, though the plot record reads "BRENNEN".
Edward's obituary reads: "He united with the M.E. Church in 1870, and always lived a consistent christian life. Mr. Brennan was one of the most thoroughly honest men who ever lived in our community, and won the respect and confidence of all."
