Their youngest son Wesley died in North Africa in 1942 in WWII. He is buried in the American Cemetery, Berling, North Africa.
"W.E." as he called had a truck farm and hauled freight from Colby to the country store taking 3 days to make the round trip with a wagon and a team of four horses. In 1912 he moved his family to a farm northwest of the Chardon Store, Chardon, Rawlins county, Kansas. There his beloved wife Mary died in 1917. He kept his family together until they were grown. He moved to Colby, Thomas county, Kansas in 1928 and about 1930 he began working for the city until his death in 1950.
