Mrs. Harbert was born in Hawley, where she graduated from high school. She graduated from North Texas State Teachers College in 1950. She taught for 30 years, first in Kingsville, then Dallas and last in the H-E-B school system, at Harrison Lane Elementary and Donna Park Elementary. While teaching, she was a member of the Classroom Teachers Association and National Education Association.
She married Mark Harbert of Aubrey in 1950 in Kingsville. In retirement, she was a life member volunteer with the Harris H-E-B Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Bedford-Hurst Senior Citizen Center. She was also a member of the Retired School Employees of Texas, a member of Bedford Police Academy alumni as well as the Bedford Fireman Alumni Association.
"Cookie" had a very loving and compassionate heart. She gave countless hours of her time to help other people. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Harbert, and one son, Gary Harbert.
Survivors: Son, Mike Harbert and wife, Wendie, of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Justin Harbert and wife, Yadira, and their son, Jayden, of Grand Prairie and Katie Harbert of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
