URBANA----Virginia Irene Willford, 89, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in Virginia Gay Hospital following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Urbana Christian Church, by the Rev. Tom Felts. Burial: Urbana Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 tonight at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Vinton.
Virginia was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Urbana, to Carl and Sylvia (Brody) Willford, and graduated from the Urbana High School in 1933. For 34 years she was employed as a telephone operator at the Urbana Farmers Telephone Co., retiring in 1962. A member of the Urbana Christian Church, she enjoyed membership in the CWF of her congregation. She loved antiques and Iowa Hawkeye sports.
Virginia is survived by her sister, Alice Kramer of Urbana; and many nieces an nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters.
A memorial fund has been established for the Urbana Christian Church.
