Mrs. Hughes was the widow of Augustus (Gus) Hughes.
A native of Owen County, KY, Mrs Works was a daughter of Albert Jasper and Martha 'Mattie' True Works. She was a member of the Mt. Hope Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons; Ernest G. Hughes, Harrison County, KY and Lester Hughes, Bethel, Ohio, and a daughter, Mrs. Orlie Dunn, Harrison County, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by
a daughter, Mrs. Loretta Hughes Fields (Moses Fields), and a son, Roy D. Hughes.
Mrs. Hughes siblings include a brother, Emmett Works, St. Louis, MO; a brother, Ausker (Oscar?), DOB about 1879; and a brother, Jefferson Davis Works (who was also married to Flora's husband's sister, Rebecca Ann Hughes Works), and a half-sister Mrs. Effie Works Ireland (who was married to Hendrix Ireland of Covington, KY who died in 1950). Hendrix was the son of another of Flora's husband's sisters, Mary Frances 'Frankie' Hughes Ireland.
Funeral services were held Wednesday November 13, 1957 at the Smith-Rees Chapel.
