On last Thursday afternoon the spirit of William S. Buckner took its flight to the Great Beyond. Mr. Buckner had been in ill health for some time and the news of his death was no surprise to his friends. His death was due to stomach trouble. The deceased was 57 years of age and he had been a member of the Baptist Church for about forty years. He spent all his life in this community and had many warm personal friends who regret to learn of his death. He was a good man and a most honorable citizen. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church and were conducted by Revs. Fendley, Nash, Graves and Jordan, the interment taking place in Oak Hill Cemetery. The deceased is survived by his widow and four sons - Ed and Artha of Gadsden, Lon of Calera and Wyatt of Oneonta.
