Kenneth Howard "Speedy" Chain, 58, died August 24, 1997, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was born December 16, 1938, in Cooperton, Kiowa County, Oklahoma, to Virgil Ernest and Mary Elizabeth (Ferril) Chain. He graduated from Cooperton High School in 1956. He spent two years in the armed forces. He moved to Oklahoma City and worked for Oklahoma City Parks Department and retired after 22 years.

He married Rosie Mae Alexander November 4, 1966, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife, Mae, a resident of Mariner Health Center, Bethany; a son Timothy Howard Chain, Moore, Oklahoma; a stepdaughter, Margie Geraldine Dalph Griffis, Muskogee, Oklahoma; a stepson, Donald Woods, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four brothers, Garland Ray Chain and wife Cleta, Cooperton, Oklahoma; William Lewis Chain and wife Glenda, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Roy Dwayne Chain and wife Virginia, Geronimo, Oklahoma; and Amos Leon Chain, Cooperton, Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mary Chain and a sister, Evelyn Sue Harms.

Memorial services were held September 6, 1997, at Spring Hill Cemetery, Cooperton, Kiowa County, Oklahoma, with Marvin Ferril, Shamrock, Texas, officiating.
