Retired Oplin Farmner Dies
BAIRD (RMS) - Thomas Newton Poindexter, 71, retired Oplin community farmer, died Saturday at 2:50 p.m. in Cox Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Oplin Church of Christ with Bill Eason, minister, officiating, assisted by J. E. Weems of Abilene. Burial in Tecumseh Cemetery will be directed by Godfrey Funeral Home.
Born in Benton County, Ark., on Jan 7, 1892, he had lived in the Oplin community most of his life. He married Annie Lee Grantham in 1935 at Coleman. Mr. Poindexter was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Louise Nobles of Oplin; one son, James of Abilene; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Yost of Oplin, Mrs. Veda Russell of Dudley, and Mrs. Amy Gorman of Baird; four brothers, Robert and Melton of Casa Grande, Ariz., Mart of Baird and Bulen of Oplin; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
