Mrs. Jeter Dies Here; Rites Today

Funeral services for Mrs. R. McL. Jeter of 4534 Fairfield Ave. will be held in the Frost Chapel of the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard L. Dupree officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jeter died at 11:50 p.m. Monday at her residence after a long illness.

The former Marion Virginia Hearne of St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Luella Applegate Hearne and the late George M. Hearne, founder of the Hearne Dry Goods Co. and prominent Shreveport civic leader.

She moved to Shreveport with her parents at an early age. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College and was active in religious, cultural and civic affairs.

Survivors include her husband, a planter and retire banker; three sons, Robert McLean Jeter Jr., Horace Hearne Jeter and John Marion Jeter; a brother, George M. Hearne Jr.; and four granddaughters, all of Shreveport.

Pallbearers will be George M. Hearne III, John H. Hearne, Henry M. Hearne, Frank H. Ford Jr., E. Alton Sartor Jr., William E. Glassell III, M. Allen Dickson, W. H. Martin and John H. Alban Jr.
