Walter L. BURKETT, 74, 916 Monroe street, died at 12:01 a.m. today at his residence following an illness of one year.
Mr. Burkett was born Sept. 8, 1903 at Richland Center to William and Martha DUDGEON BURKETT. He was a lifetime resident of Richland Center with the exception of the last year in Rochester. His marriage was April 24,1925 in Cassopolis, Mich., to Mildred V. HAGGERTY, who survives.
Mr. Burkett was a retired farmer and member of the Richland Center I.O.O.F. lodge, the Mount Horeb Encampment of Rochester, and the Fulton County Fish and Game club. He was a past director of the Fulton County REMC. Surviving with the wife are three sons, Dick [BURKETT], R.R. 3, Rocheste r; Don [BURKETT], R.R. 2, Rochester, and Jerry [BURKETT], Rochester; a granddaugh ter, Jeralyn BURKETT; six grandsons, Bill, Pat, Mike, Dave, Randy and Jay [BURKETT], a ll of Rochester, and five great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Esther MOW, died Jan. 3, 1977 . Servies will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster & Good funeral ho me with the Rev. Terry SHUMAKER officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Center I.O .O.F. cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the ti me of services Wednesday. The Richland Center I.O.O.F. lodge will conduct services at 8 p .m. Tuesday.
The family has requested memorials other than flowers be donated to the American Cancer Society.
