George W Gibson was born to Ellen Eckler and George Gibson in Pine Grove, Schuylkill Co. PA. There was no marriage of the parents. He was raised by grandparents Henry & Margaret Keiser Eckler along with illegitimate cousins Sylvester Behney and Theodore Newcomer.

George and Sylvester traveled to South Bend, IN for a visit with Aunt Hannah Eckler Spancake. Sylvester remained, George returned to Pine Grove and married Lydia A Young the 18th of July 1881 in Pine Grove. They became the parents of seventeen children - namely Charlotte, Gertrude, Mary A, George W, Reuben C, Edward A, Samuel E, James D, William H, Lydia A, Henry C, Emma A, Clara E, Thomas, Helen N, and Paul L Gibson.

George along with a relative helped build the Suedberg Church. They are interred here as well. Submitted by Cousin - Anita (Eckler Family) Rodgers.
