Great Great Grandpa Allen served in the 31st Illinois Infantry, Company A in the Civil War under the name John McKinnan. He was a substitue soldier.

Croswell, Nov. 28-Funeral services for A. W. Campfield, who died here Tuesday, were held at the M. E. church at 1 p. m. Saturday. Rev. E. A. Stricker, pastor of the M. E. church and Rev. G. Gaige, Presbyterian pastor, were in charge. Burial was in the Ruby cemetery.

Mr. Campfield was born in Brockway, St. Clair county. He lived in this part of the state almost (sic) of his life. Was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisting in the 41st Ill., the regiment which was recruited by General Logan. He married Miss Mary Van Luven.

To this union were born eight children, the following of which, with his widow survive him: Mrs. Genie Martin, Deford; Mrs. Mabel Lovell and Chas. Campfield, Croswell; Mrs. Eva Edmison and Fred A. Campfield, of Saskatchewan; Mrs. Luella Barry and Mrs. Ethel Johnston, Montana; brother Alvin D. McPherson, Detroit, and a sister, Mrs. E. A. Zignafus, of Port Huron, also survive him.

Mr. Campfield was a member of the Masonic order.
