Mrs. Esther Grigg Boyce, 93, died at the Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas, Texas. Esther Grigg Boyce is the daughter of Mr. Albert Edward Grigg and Rose Plummer Grigg. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas F. Grigg of Lawton, Iowa, her husband, John G. Boyce of Carlsbad, New Mexico and her daughter Margaret Rose Prather of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Esther graduated from Iowa State Teachers College with a degree in primary education. During World War II, while teaching in San Diego she met and married John G. Boyce and raised three children. During her teaching career in Carlsbad, Mrs. Boyce was a beloved teacher to scores of children whose lives she touched with her special ability to help children enjoy school while learning to read with confidence. Esther served on the City of Carlsbad Library Board and as an elder at the First Presbyterian Church. She was a life long member of PEO. At the age of 82, she moved to Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas and joined the First Presbyterian Church of Dallas. Esther is survived by two sons, John Thomas Boyce and Richard Grigg Boyce and their families which include six grandchildren. Graveside services and interment will be at Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, New Mexico on Saturday, October 25, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Caring Fund of Grace Presbyterian Village, 550 E. Ann Arbor Dallas, TX 75216.
