Mr. Cobbins, 102, died of heart failure Saturday, Sept. 4, 2008, at his residence in Black Hawk.
Mr. Cobbins was born Aug. 12, 1906, in Carroll County. He was a member and deacon of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Black Hawk.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Willie B. Cobbins; two daughters, Sallie "Lene" Adam of Wally, Ga., and Viola Jordan of Cincinnati, Ohio; and eight sons, James "Bobby" Vernise Cobbins of Black Hawk, Dewitt Cobbins of Black Hawk, Norman Cobbins Jr. of Lexington, Lee Faye Cobbins of Lexington, Joe Nathan Cobbins of Dayton, Ohio, John "Billy" Cobbins of Dayton, Ohio, and Eugene Cobbins of Chattanooga, Tenn.
A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Roberts and Sons Chapel in Winona.
