Maggie Benham Thompson, 90, Chaplin, died Sunday, June 2i, 2008 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. A native of Washington County, she was born May 12, 1918. She was a member of the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Avery Thompson; her parents, James Alfred and Kate Breeding Benham; two sisters, Anna Mae Cheatham and Artie Strange; and four brothers, lee Benham, James Benham, Ira Benham and Norris Benham. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Shields, Bloomfield; two sons, William "Buddy" Thompson, Bloomfield and Curtis Thompson, Springfield; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Fred Benham, Springfield and Walter Benham, Bardstown.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev Steve Puckett, the church pastor, will officiate with the Rev Earl Hazel, pastor of the Church of God, assisting. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Pallbearers are Anthony Thompson, David Thompson, Bruce Thompson, Stevie Thompson, Michael Shields and David Shields. Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
