Anaya – Juan Rafael Anaya, 74, passed away Wednesday in an Albuquerque nursing home.

He was born April 21, 1901 in Atrisco, N.M. He was a member of the San Antonio Catholic Church at Tajique and resident of Tajique for 50 years.

He is survived by his widow, Merofla B. Anaya of Tajique; a stepson, Diego Sanchez of Estancia; three sons, Bert and Herman of Tajique and Oliver of Estancia; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Vigil, Mrs. Lee Lance and Mrs. Mary Hidal Hidgaldo, all of Albuquerque, Mrs. Rose Urban of Estancia and Mrs. Delora Barela of Tajique; two brothers, Pablo Anaya of Tajique and Abal of Albuquerque, 34 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today in the San Antonio Catholic Church of Tajique. Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the San Antonio Catholic Church. Casket bearers will be Julian Sanchez, Robert Anaya, Manuel Urban Jr., Pete Vigil Jr., and Diego Lance. Interment will be in the San Antonio Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Hanlon Mortuary of Mountainair.
