Margaret was born in Albia the fifth child of Thomas Holland & Mayme (McCreary) McGill. Her education was received in the Albia area.
She married Carl Andrew Cottrell on Jan. 24, 1924. To this union four children were born. The early years of their marriage were spent farming in Clarke County, moving to Lucas County in 1939. After Margaret & Carl were divorced she moved into Russell to be near and to help provide care to her father.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; gt-gt-grandson, Kyle Weidner; two brothers, Thomas(Roy) & Kenneth McGill and sister, Eva Bales.
Survivors included her son, Dale(Fern)Cottrell; daughters, Ethel(Harry)Prough; Doris(Ronald)Christensen;
grand children, Marilyn(Rodney)Masters;Ronald Prough;Rhonda(Larry)Richard; Linda(Larry)Chase; Joyce(Mike)Thomas; Janet(Dewey)Abrahamson; Chris, Kevin & Cory Christensen; thirteen gt- grandchildren and three gt-gt grandchildren. Also, sisters Larena Rouse and Beulah(Clemens)Einsphar.
