The funeral service for retired Midland Brake employee David Jones Wofford of Paris was scheduled at 2 p.m. today at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Ben Wainscott was to officiate. Burial was to follow in Wofford Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday and today.
Wofford, 80, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at his residence.
Born Feb. 4, 1928, in Stewart County, he was a son of John and Pearl Love Wofford, now both deceased.
He was first married to Mary E. Wofford, who preceded him in death. He later was married to Larue Wofford, who also preceded him in death.
In addition to working at Midland Brake, Wofford was a plumber, carpenter and electrician. He was a Baptist.
He leaves two daughters: Kay Dowell of Paris and Elsie (Doug) Parker of Jacksonville, N.C.; a sister: Mary Ellen (Johnny) Sullivan of Michigan;
Six grandchildren: Carolyn (Dre) Toudle, Mary Jane (Chris) Hixson, Eddie (Monica) Hixson, Amanda (James) Prather, Dana (Kyle) Carlsen and Kayla Dowell;
Nine great-grandchildren: Dominique, Bryce, Hailey and Hayden Hixson, Jasmine Toudle, Hannah and Max Prather, Courtlee Teague and Rossy Carlsen; and a cousin: Leon (Joyce) Wofford of McKenzie.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter: Carolyn Ann Wofford; a son: David Lee Wofford; and three brothers: Gordon, Garrett and Jessie Wofford.
