Orville Friedrichsen was born June 30, 1927, to Edward and Edna Kastner Friedrichsen. He graduated from Holstein High School and served in the US. Navy after which he engaged in farming. He passed away on Dec. 13, 2007.
He married JoAnn Grell on Sept. 24, 1950, daughter of Hans and Ann Volkert Grell of Cushing, Iowa, in St. John Lutheran Church there. JoAnn was born Nov. 19, 1931. She attended Douglas Center Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Cushing High School. They had 3 children, Kristin Jo (b. March 7, 1953);Kim Jean (b. March 20, 1956); and Kirk Edward (b. Aprii 4, 1961).
Orville and JoAnn farmed west of Holstein, Iowa. Part of their land had been in Orville's mother's family for over 65 years.
