George Wesley 'Richardson' Voyles, 85, was the son of Roland Voyles and Susannah C Boyd Voyles.
He was born at Mt. Olive, IL and died at Gillespie.
He was a Union Veteran of the Civil War.
Richard Voyles was 84 years, 9 months and 24 days old at his death on Monday, July 9, 1928 at his residence in Gillispie, IL. Funeral
services were held Thursday, 12 July 1928 from the Christian church the Rev. Gharst officiating.

Richard Voyles , one of our oldest citizens, passed away at his home in Eastin Heights, Monday July 9th at 9:30 pm. He had been a resident of this city for a long term of years.

Mr. Voyles was one of the few remaining old soldiers in the city, and was 84 years 9 months and 24 days of age at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, two sons, John of Belleville and Walter of Gillespie, and four daughters, Mrs. George Slachter, Mrs. Luther Pearson, and Mrs. Lela Barrett of Gillespie and Mrs. Wehrle of St Louis.

The deceased has been a resident of Gillespie for about 15 years coming from Mt. Olive.

He was one of the few remaining old soldiers of the civil war, living in the city, and was a member of the G.A.R. and served three years in the Union Army.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Christian Church at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 12. Rev. Garst of Hillsboro will officiate.
