When he applied for his pension under the law passed in 1909, he was denied initially. The Government stated he was not on any roll. It was then taken to court where his Captain, Tom Hamilton of Texas appeared to swear that he was in K company and that he first met him in 1863. It took two full years to get it approved in San Jacinto, County Texas.
On his application for the pension he put his year of birth as about 1847.
He married Ida ? Born about 1867, After the war and had 3 children. Bertha, Mary and Lucille.
