Funeral services for Charles Baker, age 51, were held Sunday afternoon
at one o'clock from the residence in East Hickman with Rev. Howard Rice
officiating. Interment was at Beech Grove.

Pallbearers were Messrs. Clyde Newton, Floyd Speed, Charles Poynor,
James Sanger, Harold King and Almus Cox.

Mr. Baker, who had been in failing health the past year, died Friday
night at the Weakley County Hospital in Martin, Tenn., where he had been
a patient since the preceding day. His death was attributed to a heart
condition.

For the past four years, Mr. Baker had been employed by the N. C. &
St. L. Railway as a bridge repairman. He had previously worked for the
Mengel Box Company and the Smiley Sand and Gravel Company here.

Born and reared in Lake County, Tennessee, he moved to Hickman 18 years
ago. He married Lizzie Williams, November 22, 1913.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Opal Higgins of Brownsville
community; one son, John Baker of Hickman; two step sons, Jesse Williams of
Dorena, Mo. And Robert Belts of Brownsville; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Watts,
of Nashville; two brothers, Gilbert Baker of Cairo, Ill. And Elmer Baker,
of Rives, Tenn.; and one half-sister, Mrs. Stella Bar----, of Ridgely.
